PlanB One-Step: Emergency Contraceptive

Website Redesign

Website displayed on various devices

My redesign of the Plan B website focused on providing clear, straightforward information and making it easy for users to purchase the product online or find it in stores. The design was shaped by the emotional insight that women feel empowered when they have the knowledge to make independent decisions about their reproductive health. This became especially important after the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which impacted access to reproductive care, making the website a key resource for women seeking control over their choices.

What I did

As the UX/UI Product Design Lead, I collaborated with the Art and Copy advertising team to create a product site that embraced simplicity and authenticity. We made a deliberate choice to avoid an overly marketing-driven approach, instead focusing on empowering users through clear, no-fluff messaging. I set up and customized the Shopify store to support e-commerce, ensuring it could handle high traffic. I also collaborated closely with agency and client brand teams, working with developers to ensure smooth technical handoff and the flexibility to quickly adapt to real-world legal changes.

Impact

The new website launched successfully and became a key resource during a time of great uncertainty. The night the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the site handled over 1,000 purchases and kept up with high demand after that. The simple, no-frills design helped users feel informed and empowered. This project showed how important it is to connect design with emotional insights to create a meaningful experience for users.
